While I'm not as familiar with the pokemon scene as the yugioh scene, but if I recall correctly, a similar dynamic was seen with pokemon online vs. Remember Gamekingonline? Holy fuck was that site terrible, but it still usurped YVD for the month-or-so time that it was live, because there is a huge amount of value to something being web-based versus a program you'd need to install. DN being in the web browser is such a huge factor towards its success. The biggest factor that sets DN apart from YGOPro, and the reason that people insist on DN over it despite all of it's downsides is the accessibility of it. For example, it actually has a matchmaking system, and an observer system, two huge features that YVD lacked.
#YGOPRO 2 PLAY WITH FRIENDS SIMULATOR#
However, DN excels in non-duel simulator related fields. To this day, I still load up YVD to goldfish decks because it's so much faster at going through game actions than DN, where you need to wait for a shuffle animation, wait for the card to go into play, wait for flash to stop being a piece of shit, etc. DN, as a duel simulator, is a huge step down from what YVD was. No keyboard shortcuts, useless animations, no real logs, etc. DN's interface is literal shit, like a 5 year old could've probably built something more user-friendly than whatever DN has now. I feel like people are jumping to fast to defending DN. Like you can do some shortcuts with DN like for repeated plays, but those are the minority of the actual interactions with the system. If you think DN is in any way faster you're woefully unfamiliar with Devpro. There's no "End?" or "Think" it's either over or it isn't. If you're taking the time to ask about coordinating shit via skype, that's in no way faster than just not holding down on a button to let the phases pass/end. If you don't want to latter that's on you but if your argument is you just want to play test with friends, dn still outclasses devpro due to how much faster you can go through phases and shit especially if you're in a skype chatĮven the base system is slower. I've noticed no difference in player quality in the long run, but even if devpro had you playing good players 1/3rd the time DN did, it's also about 3 times faster. 1300-1400+ is where the good players are for devpro. Playing in high rated matches is possibly one of the best ways to practice and get an insane amount of games in considering a majority of the high rated players are competent and a lot of them are actually usually the players that do well irlĭN's ladder system is more promoted but it's not like if you upkeep your rank on both of them the quality of players you duel doesn't go up. If you actually think devpro is on the same league as DN for serious testing there's something wrong with you.
